Just weeks after the Ghana Football Association was rocked with the ‘Number 12′ controversy that exposed corruption right to the top, Nigeria is now at the center of corruption in African football.
A sting operation by undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, shows Nigerian coach, Salisu Yusuf, taking bribe to make sure two players feature at the WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana.
Anas’ Tiger Eye PI agency filmed Salisu collecting cash believed to be $1000 from undercover journalists who posed as agents to the players.
Salisu was in charge of the Nigeria B side at the WAFU Cup, where Nigeria went all the way to the final, where they were handed a 4-1 defeat by hosts Ghana. He was also promised to get 15% from the players’ contracts if they land promising transfers due to their game time at the tournament.
After his role with the Nigeria B team, he was also part of the coaching team that traveled to Russia for the just concluded World Cup (Gernot Rohr’s assistant
