Police repel attacks in Zamfara, arrest son of notorious bandit kingpin, Zakoa Buhari

The suspect, Zakoa Buhari, the son of a bandit kingpin popularly known as Buharin-Daji.


The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson stated this while parading the suspect before newsmen in Gusau on Tuesday.
Ebrimson said there was an attempt by a group of armed bandits to attack the two communities in the early hours of July 23, which was frustrated by the police tactical operation teams.

“On receiving the distress call, we quickly mobilised security personnel comprising members of the police counter terrorism unit and police mobile personnel to the scene, “They engaged the bandits in a gun battle which led to injuring and arresting one of the bandits while others fled.
“The bandit, Zakoa Buhari was later identified as son of late Buharin-Daji, a notorious bandits kingpin who was killed in April this year, while the other bandits retreated to the bush.
“One AK-47 rifle, with two rounds of live ammunition, 77 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered from the suspect”, he said

Fresh drama ensues  after the former governor, senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso defected from the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party Supporters of the lawmaker gathered in their numbers as they burnt brooms to show solidarity with the senator. IG of Police summons Saraki over Offa robbery

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, has asked Senate President Bukola Saraki, to appear at the office of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office in Abuja, over the robbery incident that took place in offa,  Kwara state,  sometime around April this year In a letter dated July 23 and addressed to Saraki, the police IG asked the Senate President to be at IRT’s office at 8am on Tuesday “for further investigation”. The police had said some of  the robber suspects confessed that they where they were Sarakis thugs  an allegation he has since denied. The lawmaker had earlier been asked to report at force headquarters for questioning,  the police eventually said Saraki should not appear in person but respond to the allegations of the suspects in writing.
